if u are looking for film school as spring board,there are many schools around the world.and some of those do competetion like this VFS one so maybe u should look for next ones.

Hi Liverpoolsamurai, I don't know if you can understand or not, or because you live in Greece as one of the EU countries. There's a lot of immigration rules or a lot of working visa applications the companies have to deal with if I apply those foreign countries. Working Experiences or Education qualification all counts. As I said before VFS is just act as a springboard for me. I have a discussion with a French guy and he also mentioned your point. And I just discovered that VFS may not suitable for me (because I love French animation). But it is definity a good springboard.

why dont u use that video u made for vfs as ur portfolio work to some company u can apply?send portfolio directly to companies in euro or northamerican film company.if u wanna work in film industry,u know school is not neccesarry?i took vfs course 2yrs ago,my class had 30ppl and gueass what,not even half of us got work in film carrer now.if u have passion try any way and dont give up!good luck azian bro!

hey man,i agree you that some of VFS top 10finalists dont deserved to be there.dont feel so bad by this and let this loss diside ur carrer though.i went to film school and there were guys who were over30years and just about to start their carrer on film bussinese.but by seeing ur work,u are already at pretty good level.so its not late for u at all.

Hey man, I totally agree with you, they shouldn't have mixed all the VFS programmes in a single competition, films take shorter time to do and animations can create realities and desires films can't; I made a shortfilm, but I do know how hard it is to do 3D, animation, FX, etc. This mixture also resulted that "not soo good" submissions made it to the finals (acting for tv and films, for example) only to have a diverse selection that included the other programmes different from films and animations, that was really crappy.

And yes, there is one 3D and FX submission I remember that made it to the finals, the thing is: it has nothing to do with the programme!!

Personally I think it is not a fair competitions. As I said before, it is about "how to compare from Animation to Film production (apple and orange)". People who take film production actually has an advantage in terms of time taken. While we work almost a full six weeks and just managed to have an entry done. My sister said to me that she didn't know to distinguish the top 10 finalists about how they are good, or how to compare due to different categories.

As an animator, as they mentioned it is a "life-changing" opportunity, but well I cannot make it. I will deeply consider about should I continue my career...as in Hong Kong, the development of 3D animation isn't so good.

Hey bro I know how you feel about the render time. I had my AA up on 1 and Final Gathering on so it took a LOT of render time. Your must have taken more though as it seems like you had more to render.

Its sad that really there weren't any 3D animations that won. And yes no asians that won either :)

But hey man I think it was a wonderful opportunity to learn.

Lets not give up on our dream. We'll find a different route to it!
